Senior Backend Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who excels at building high-throughput, reliable systems. You will be embedded in client engineering teams working on products that process significant volume — payments, logistics, healthcare data, or enterprise SaaS. You bring architectural depth, a bias for simplicity, and the ability to navigate complex legacy codebases as well as greenfield services.

• Design and implement high-performance backend services and APIs using Java, .NET, or Go
• Architect resilient, scalable systems with a focus on observability, fault tolerance, and operational simplicity
• Lead technical design reviews and ensure engineering standards are maintained across the codebase
• Integrate with third-party APIs, message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and event-driven architectures
• Collaborate closely with front-end engineers, DevOps, and QA to ship complete features
• Mentor mid-level engineers and participate in code reviews with a focus on correctness and maintainability

• 6+ years of professional backend engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in at least one of: Java (Spring Boot), C#/.NET, or Go
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, database design (SQL and NoSQL), and API patterns (REST, gRPC)
• Experience with containerised deployments on Kubernetes and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Comfortable with asynchronous messaging systems and event-driven design patterns
• Strong written and spoken English for daily client communication
• A track record of owning production systems and responding to incidents with calm and rigour

• Experience in fintech, payments, or highly regulated backend domains
• Familiarity with database performance tuning and query optimisation at scale
• Exposure to service mesh (Istio, Linkerd) or advanced Kubernetes operators
• Experience leading a backend squad or technical work stream
